About Pulsr

Pulsr turns WordPress into a community where readers shape the feed. People post, vote and talk in communities; the best posts rise to Hot, karma shows whom people trust, and moderators keep each community in order.

The main things

  • Feeds that sort themselves. Hot, Best, Fresh and Following, hidden tags, a no-politics switch and endless scroll.
  • Votes and karma. Upvotes and downvotes on posts and comments, karma and ranks, rights that grow with rank and protection from vote cheating.
  • Communities. Join or request to join, rules, 18+ communities and moderators who look after their own community.
  • Posting for visitors. Photos, up to four videos with covers, spoilers, tag chips, polls and drafts, right on the site.
  • Stories for 24 hours, with video, and profiles with a cover, tabs, saved posts and achievements.
  • A messenger. Pinned chats, online status, “typing…” and read ticks, with notifications and a bell in the header.
  • Moderation. Reports with reasons, a review queue, bans for a set time, a log and an appeal screen.
  • Feels like an app. A bottom bar on phones, installs to the home screen, light and dark themes.

How it is made

Pulsr is two parts, the way WordPress expects: the Pulsr theme draws the site, and the Pulsr Core plugin holds every feature. Both come in one download and update together. Without the plugin the theme still works as a clean blog.
